Take Better Footage in the Field
Organisations and businesses need to produce constant content for social media and reports. It can be time consuming to collect enough footage. This training teaches anyone with a smart phone how to take better quality pictures and video clips so that gathering content from around your projects and country offices becomes much easier.

Details
Half-day course around 3.5 hours. Max 20 participants. This is an entry-level course for those new to content creation. Participants must have a smart phone (Android, iPhone or similar) with the capability to take photographs and videos.
Learn Canva for Social Media
Aim
Canva is an incredibly useful tool used by organisations and companies to create good-looking social media content with just a few clicks. This course teaches you the ins and outs of Canva from creating single slides to video clip masterpieces. We also look at where to source copyright-free pictures and helpful free tools to improve production quality.

Details
This is a 2 day course depending on the participants' level of computer literacy and previous experience. An extra half-day can be added to apply this knowledge to creating flyers and posters. Small groups of up to 5 people work best so that everybody gets time to practice what they learn. Participants will need access to a PC or laptop and internet access. An external USB mouse is advisable for precision control.
Intro to Audio Editing
with Audacity
Aim
Whether you are recording a podcast, audiobook or YouTube video, you need great quality audio. This course teaches you the basics of Audacity, a leading audio editing software suite. Learn how to take a good recording, how to clean up a recording and remove messy audio, and how to EQ the sound to make it glossy and professional.

Details
This is a 2 day course depending on the participants' level of computer literacy and previous experience. Small groups of up to 3 people works best so that everybody gets time to practice what they learn. Participants will need access to a PC or laptop capable of running Audacity, which is a small program that is free to download and use.
Intro to DaVinci Video Editing
Aim
DaVinci is one of the world's leading video editing suites. DaVinci Resolve is the free version of this software with all of the necessary tools to learn video editing. This course teaches the basics of arranging footage, adding sound tracks, and exporting work for social media and YouTube.

Details
This is a 3 day introductory course for beginners. Small groups of up to 3 people work best so that everybody gets time to practice what they learn. Each participant will need access to a PC or laptop capable of running DaVinci Resolve, an external USB mouse, and access to the internet. Students must be comfortable with copy/pasting and drag/dropping. The course can be extended if students need more time to practice skills.
Advanced
DaVinci Video Editing
Aim
This course takes video editing to the next level with DaVinci Studio, including masking, tracking, face-blurring, face refinement, magic mask techniques, chroma key/green screen and colour grading.

Details
This is a 5 day course for people who are familiar with DaVinci Resolve or a similar video editing suite. Small groups of up to 3 people work best so that everybody gets time to practice what they learn. Each participant will need access to a PC or laptop capable of running DaVinci Studio, as well as a copy of DaVinci Studio which is a paid-for program. An external USB mouse, and internet access are required.
Learn Insta360 Studio
Aim
Insta360 action cameras have taken the world by storm, allowing for full 360 camera coverage, underwater shots and impressive special effects. This course teaches how to use the camera and the specialist editing software, Insta360 Studio, that comes with it, including key frames, lens effects and export.

This is a 1 day course using an Insta 360x3 and Insta360 studio on the tutor's laptop. Phone editing is not currently covered.
Intro to Creative Writing
Aim
Based on our undergraduate creative writing curriculum for UGHE, this course takes participants through the building blocks of short fiction writing, from concept and character development to writing style and perspective. By the end, each participant will have a short story to show for their effort and a toolbox to help them on their fiction-writing journey.

People who are interested in short story and novel writing.

Details
Traditionally 6 two-hour sessions, one session per week, with an optional final session for people to share their stories. Up to 8 participants. Participants must be comfortable working in English and have internet access in order to view course materials.
Telling Other People's Stories
Aim
This course is for people working with stakeholders and beneficiaries. It helps participants to turn first-person qualitative data into compelling, story-driven narrative. Helping people to tell their stories is a key step towards engaging the public and donors. A good story helps to prove the need for a project and the impact it has had.

Fundraisers, report writers and communications staff.

Details
This is a 4 day course. It is best to run the first two days consecutively, then the second two sessions with a week-long gap for participants to undertake individual research and preparation. Participants need to be comfortable in English unless translation is provided.
Improve Your Professional
English
Aim
This is a build-your-own course based on our training for MINICT and Three Mountains Learning Advisors, as well as our academic curriculum for UGHE. We have a range of units covering English grammar, presentation, writing tools and style. These help you to explore the differences between formal and informal English, tightening up your sentence structure to better engage your target audience.

Administrative staff and report writers who want to write clearer, more engaging copy.

Details
The length of this course varies depending on the learning goals of participants. We suggest starting with between 6-8 one-hour sessions held once or twice a week. Improving English requires repetition and practice, regular sessions help towards this goal whilst allowing time for personal reflection. Contact us to discuss your needs further.
Perfect Public Speaking
Aim
This course helps participants to become more confident with public speaking. Working with your own speech or a practice speech, we walk through how to build confidence, how to reach the back of the room, how to remember your lines, and how to appear charismatic on stage. No more staring down at the paper.

This is a 2 day course with sessions one week apart. The first session covers theory, the second covers practice. Come with a speech prepared or use one of ours. Up to 5 participants. As an additional service, we can help you to write your speech.

Project Development
Aim
One of our best-selling development courses which we have delivered to GIZ and UNDP civil society partners. This course looks at the causes of aid dependency and how to start designing projects that will either be self-sustaining or support the transition into new projects, adding to your organisation's unrestricted funding reserves.
